FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Fleetwise.
General
What is Fleetwise?
Fleetwise is a system of record for physical validation fleets. It replaces spreadsheet-based coordination with structured request, allocation, and tracking workflows built for automotive engineering teams.
Who is Fleetwise for?
Fleet coordinators, engineers, testers, program managers, and anyone involved in scheduling or using pre-production vehicles.
How is Fleetwise different from commercial fleet tools?
Commercial fleet tools (Geotab, Samsara, etc.) track logistics vehicles in operation. Fleetwise manages R&D prototype fleets where the challenge is matching vehicle specs and configurations to engineering test requirements.
Requests and Allocations
What is the difference between essential and preferred requirements?
Essential requirements are hard filters — vehicles that don't match are excluded. Preferred requirements influence ranking — vehicles that match score higher but aren't excluded if they don't.
Can a request be fulfilled by multiple vehicles?
Yes. A single request can receive multiple allocations — for example, when the required duration is split across different vehicles or time windows. The request status reflects the coverage level: Partially Allocated when some coverage is assigned, and Allocated when fully covered.
What happens when an allocation conflicts with another?
Fleetwise detects clashes and surfaces them in the allocation plan. Coordinators can review alternatives and reassign as needed.
AI Assistant (Oscar)
What can Oscar help with?
Oscar can answer questions about fleet availability, vehicle specs, allocation status, and platform usage. See the Oscar (AI Assistant) guide for prompt patterns.
Does Oscar make changes or just answer questions?
Oscar is a read-only assistant. It retrieves information and offers guidance, but all actions (submitting requests, confirming allocations) are done through the UI.
